There has been escalating tension between Durban artists Lucasraps and Blxckie. The two have been involved in a feud for a while now, and Lucasraps recently released a new single that adds fuel to the fire. Titled "My Lytie," the song is Lucasraps' way of asserting dominance over the rapper he once collaborated with, using the Afrikaans term for "little boy."
It seems that the song originally featured another Durban-based new comer Usimamane as a version of the song with him on the hook was leaked on the internet. However, based on a statement him and his team released, he wants no part of this feud whatsoever.
"The unauthorised release has left Usimamane and his team feeling disrespected and disappointed because during the session they had clearly stated that they do not want any involvement in any feud between the fellow musicians.
Which is why he had clearly turned down a space offered to him for a verse on a different song with the same agenda and also declined the release of the current song in question after hearing what Lucasraps had to say."
Not for nothing, Lucasraps firmly stood on business and went ahead with releasing a version that left out Usimamane.
The song starts with a clip by Thanos, saying "Fine, I'll do it myself." A testament that Lucas does not need any assistance when it's time to go to war. This is a response after what most might consider a slight jab that Blxckie took at Lucas, on a song by Sonwabile "Abekho" that he was featured on.
